A strong explosion in a building in Northern Italy has claimed the lives of three firemen.
The authorities are reporting that a gas cylinder was found amid the debris with a timer attached which indicates that this was a premeditated attack.
The firemen went on the scene after they received various reports of an explosion at an abandoned farm in Quargnento.
Shortly after they arrived on the scene, there was a second explosion, more powerful than the first, which injured two other fireman and a police officer.
According to Sky TG24, the timer was controlled by remote control and the owner of the farmer is being investigated by the police.
The victims of the tragedy are Matteo Gastaldo, 46, who was buried under the debris in the explosion and was found dead later on, Marco Triches, 39 and Antonio Candido, 32.
