A 43-year-old British national and two Somali nationals aged 37 and 32 years have been arrested by the Police in St Julians in connection with a robbery which they allegedly carried out yesterday morning from an establishment in St Augustine Street, St Julian’s.
The Police were informed at about 1.30 p.m. that during the night of Monday-Tuesday someone had broken into the establishment and had stolen the cash register with an amount of money, as well as bottles of alcoholic drink.
The Police immediately started their investigations and a report was later received that two men were selling bottles of alcohol at St George’s Bay. Police officers immediately went on site and checked the bottles, which tallied with the stolen items, and the Somalis were arrested.
Following further investigations, the Police identified the third person involved, and he was later arrested in St Julian’s.
The men were taken to the Police General Headquarters lock-up for further investigations.
Duty Magistrate Joseph Mifsud was notified and appointed a number of experts to help in a magisterial inquiry.
