Police have arrested three men in two separate drug trafficking operations.
Yesterday at around 8.30pm the Police stopped a vehicle which they were following in Fgura, after being tipped off that the driver was in possession of drugs, allegedly to be trafficked.
Police officials surrounded the vehicle and arrested the driver – a 24-year-old man living in Marsaxlokk. A search of the vehicle yielded more than 20 sachets of substances thought to be cocaine and cannabis, as well as a large amount of cash.
The 24-year-old man will be brought to Court by the Police today and arraigned before Magistrate Caroline Farrugia Frendo.
Meanwhile, while this search was being carried out, the Police noticed that in the same street, there was a vehicle with two men inside who were acting suspiciously. The Police therefore approached the men and carried out a search inside the vehicle where several packages, allegedly cannabis, were found. The two men, a 19-year-old and a 21-year-old, were arrested and are being held at the Floriana lock-up.
Further investigations into this case are ongoing.
