Wasteserv has announced the selection of three bidders from the Pre-Qualification Questionnaire for the Wasteserv Waste to Energy plant. These are FCCMA-Hitachi JV Malta, Urbaser-Terna and Consortium Suez – Tecnimont – Termomeccanica.
On the conclusion of the appeals period, the chosen bidders will be invited to the next procurement stage: the Invitation to Participate in Dialogue (ITPD), after which they will be asked to bid in the final competitive tender document.
The Waste to Energy plant will provide an essential environmental service by converting waste otherwise destined for the landfill into green energy. The plant will convert waste which cannot be recycled into precious resources, and add 4.5% as green energy to Malta’s present total energy demand.
Wasteserv thanked all economic operators who have showed interest and participated in the process. It said the three bidders were chosen after obtaining the highest points. The points exercise was based on pre-established quantifiable criteria related to the bidders’ financial and economic standing, experience and competence for the completion of the project.
