An amount of heroin was found by the Police Anti-Drugs Squad during a raid carried out in Qormi. From information that TVM has this is not the first time that the three men arrested have been investigated for drugs connections. Two of the men are aged between 25 and 37.
The raid was carried out on a residence that is on the corner between Triq il-Belt Valletta and Triq Armal and involved balaclava-clad and well-armed Police from the Special Intervention Unit together with Police from the RIU and CID. The three men were arrested after searches. The House has affixed on its facade two cameras, one showing a circular, all-round view and the other focused on the road facing the house.
It is believed that during the search suspicions arose that explosives were being stored in the house. Officials from the AFM’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit were called in as well as Police Dogs to search for explosives. However, no explosives were found. Following the arrests armed Police remained in the area and two Policemen could be seen on the roof.
