Three years in prison for robbing two houses in Kalkara

Christopher Scerri, 36, was sentenced to three years in prison after being found guilty of carrying out two separate robberies over a period of four days from houses in Kalkara.

Scerri was accused that, late in the afternoon of 26 August 2015, he robbed a house in Triq is-Sienja where a woman lives with her daughter. Although they did not recognize his face, the daughter identified him through his watch which he was wearing when he was arrested, which was stolen from their home.

The second robbery for which Scerri was charged took place on 29 August 2015, in the afternoon. He was trying to break into another house in Triq San Lawrenz, but the robbery was foiled just in time, and the owner of the house identified Scerri as the thief.

The court, presided over by Magistrate Antionio Micallef Trigona, found Scerri not guilty of buying stolen goods or of being a relapser, but found him guilty of the two robberies.
