Three years jail for man who stole car and tried to steal another one on the same day
A 42-year-old man was sentenced to three years in jail after pleading guilty that on the same day he stole a vehicle from Pietà, and also tried to steal another one from Qormi.
Saviour Agius was charged with these crimes on 25 July, and of being a relapser while breaching the bail conditions set in May of this year.
The Court, presided over by Magistrate Charmaine Galea, considered that Agius pleaded guilty at an early stage and had co-operated with the Police. However, he was also a relapser with a Police record which was filled with a number. of charges for similar crimes.
Apart from 36 months in jail, the Court ordered that Agius be placed under arrest again in connection with other pending proceedings and also ordered the confiscation of €2,500 he had paid as a guarantee to be granted bail.
He was placed under a Treatment Order for three years because of his drug habit.
