Times Square: Sound of motorcycle backfiring mistaken for gunshots

After two mass shootings occurred last week which left 31 people dead, people are afraid and understandably, they are very jumpy.

Yesterday in Times Square, people feared they were in the middle of a third attack when a motorcycle made a loud noise.

The incident happened last night at around 10pm.

A video which was shared on social media, shows the panic created among the crowd as they scattered everywhere. As soon as the Police checked the situation they informed the public that there was no danger and no need to be afraid. They said that the motorcycle simply backfired and it sounded like gunshots. This also led to several people calling 911.

Some of the people sustained a few bruises but no one was seriously injured.
