Tony Curmi liberated of trafficking two kilos of cannabis

Tony Curmi aged 38 and from Tarxien was found not guilty on a 6 – 3 Jury vote after appearing before Judge Consuelo Scerri Herrera after being accused of trafficking two kilos of cannabis resin.

Curmi had been placed under arrest in November of 2014 after the Police received information the accused was trafficking drugs. However, when his vehicle was searched no drugs were found.

Meanwhile during surveillance mounted on his garage the Police saw a man emerging holding a white bag. He was stopped and found to be possessing cannabis resin. In the garage weighing apparatus was found and empty sachets were found. The man is waiting to appear before a Jury.

The verdict was given after the Jury began its deliberations.

Lawyers Mark Vassallo, Edward Gatt and Ishmael Psaila appeared on Curmi’s behalf.
