Tragic death of Turin family who fell into volcano near Naples

In Italy, a boy and his parents died tragically after falling into a volcano crater in Solfatara near Naples. The Turin family were visiting the area while on holiday.

It is not yet known how the accident occurred, with Italian media reports saying that the tragedy occurred when the 11-year old boy was walking in a prohibited area. When his parents tried to pull him back, the volcano’s crater collapsed and they fell a metre and a half down.

It is also not known if the victims died as a result of the volcano’s gases. Another boy of the couple, aged 7, saved himself as he did not approach the volcano crater.
