Tribute to memory of Daphne Caruana Galizia, seven months after her murder
The group Occupy Justice yesterday organized a vigil to commiserate seven months since the murder of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia.
Speaker Manuel Delia said that when whistleblowers spoke up a year ago, they were taking great risks, lost their jobs, exposed their children to danger, but nothing happened. He said that Daphne Caruana Galizia was murdered and still nothing happened.
He added that Occupy Justice are speaking up because the time has come for the need of a civil conscience which is asking for the Government of the day to be ruled by compassion and humanity. He appealed for these groups not to be left on their own.
Speaker Rachel Williams said that justice has not been served and will not be served because she said that the country is getting rich off corruption, impunity and hatred. Williams said that Konrad Mizzi, Chris Cardona and Keith Schembri have exceeded all limits of decency and insisted that the Prime Minister should be ashamed to give his seal of approval to all this.
