Trump’s former campaign manager lied to FBI agents

The former manager of President Donald Trump’s election campaign lied to FBI agents on various occasions despite the deal he had made with prosecutor Robert Mueller who led the investigation on Russia’s alleged involvement to influence the results of the 2016 elections.

Judge Amy Berman Jackson in her sentence agreed that there was enough evidence that Paul Manafort had lied several times.  Manafort was found guilty of financial fraud in August with the charges brought against him being associated with his role as a political consultant which he had assumed in the Ukraine.

He agreed to co-operate with the Mueller investigation but was found guilty of perjury. The Judge stated that he had lied about the contacts he had with Russian political consultants and people who work with the Russian secret services.
