TVM to broadcast live transmission of Nadur spontaneous carnival

For the first time ever, Nadur’s spontaneous carnival in Gozo will be transmitted live on national station TVM. This was announced by Gozo Minister, Clint Camilleri, during the launching of the Nadur organised Carnival events and the spontaneous carnival.

The Nadur spontaneous carnival will be held between the 21st and 25th February, while the organised event in the same village will be held on the 16th of the month. Minister Camilleri said that the Gozitan carnival festivities are watched by thousands of admirers in Nadur and in Gozo. He said that the spontaneous carnival and the organised one at Nadur attract some 900 participants, with some 30,000 visitors attending the events spread on five evenings.

Nadur mayor Edward Said said that the spontaneous carnival is a people’s event, characterised by macabre, grottesque and contemporary costumes.

Television Malta will broadcast the spontaneous carnivel on Saturday 22nd February between 10.00pm and midnight.
