The Għaxaq local council said that it was unacceptable for a recreational area in the village to end up full of rubbish, waste and dead carcasses because of the negligence of some people.
The Deputy Mayor Christine Dalli said she was heartbroken to see a dead dog dumped among the waste, surrounded by used syringes, with her own eyes.
While pointing out that this behaviour poses a public health hazard, she added that an animal deserves to be buried in a dignified way. She said that she has contacted the authorities concerned for action to be taken.
Less than 12 hours after council members had cleaned the site it was filled with rubbish once again and yet another dead dog was found in the same area.
Irritated and disappointed by those who are being so irresponsible, Dalli said that this behaviour is unacceptable and whoever is dumping waste illegally in this area will be caught by the CCTV camera.
