Two men arrested in drugs case on arrival at Imġarr port

An operation by Anti-Drug Squad officers yesterday led to the arrest of two men, aged 21 and 23 years, and residents of Rabat and Munxar, Gozo.

The Police said in a statement that the men were arrested on arrival in a vehicle at Imgarr, Gozo, following the discovery of a substantial amount of sachets containing drugs suspected as being cocaine, and which showed it was not for their personal use.

The Police added they also recovered other items related to drug abuse and trafficking.

Duty Magistrate Paul Coppini was notified, and appointed a number of experts to assist in an inquiry.

Police investigations are ongoing, and one of the men is expected to be arraigned under arrest in the Gozo Court tomorrow.
