Two people suffer grievous injuries in Hamrun traffic accident

Two people were taken to hospital last night after being involved in a traffic accident in Hamrun.

The accident,  which involved two vehicles, happened at 9pm on Thursday night in Triq il-Kbira San Ġużepp. A BMW 520D, driven by a 21-year-old Syrian from Qormi, collided with a VW Golf driven by a 65-year-old man, resident in Zurrieq.

In the BMW there was another Syrian man, aged 22 also from Qormi while in the VW Golf there was a 71-year-old woman, resident in Birkirkara. As a result of the accident, two parked two vehicles, a Peugeot and. Ford, were also damaged.

A medical team administered First Aid and the driver and passenger of the VW Golf were taken to Mater Dei Hospital for treatment. They were later certified to have sustained grievous injuries.

The other people involved in the accident were not injured.
