Two English women, who together with their mother were going around Cottonera in an electric-powered tourist vehicle, ended up in Mater Dei hospital after the vehicle overturned. The accident occurred in Victory Street, Cospicua at about 1.00 p.m.
From on site information available to TVM, the tourists were proceeding from Cospicua to Senglea Waterfront. When they reached the part of the road which leads to the waterfront, the vehicle hit the pavement and turned over on its side.
Civil Protection personnel were called to the scene as one of the women, aged 28, was trapped underneath the vehicle. After they managed to raise the vehicle, the woman was given initial medical assistance by a nurse and ambulance team summoned to the scene. It appears that she sustained leg fractures. The other woman, aged 23, suffered injuries to her hand. Both women were transferred by ambulance to hospital for treatment.
A report on the accident is being drawn up by Police officers from Cospicua Station.
