Two year old boy in danger of dying after collision in Gozo

A 47 year old woman from Munxar Gozo lost control of her vehicle crashing into an electricity pole. A two-year boy who was a passenger in her car is now in danger of dying.

The incident occurred yesterday at about 2.45pm in Xlendi Street, Munxar.

An ambulance was called on-site and the woman and her son were taken to Gozo General Hospital to be treated. It was established that the woman had not suffered any injuries while the child had suffered slight injuries.

Later, the child’s medical condition worsened and he was taken to Mater Dei Hospital by helicopter where he was certified as suffering from serious injuries.

Magistrate Dr Paul Coppini has launched a magisterial inquiry and several experts have been appointed to assist in the inquiry.

Police investigations into this incident are ongoing.
