An unusual escape by two homicide suspects has taken place from a California prison.
21-year-old Santos Samuel Fonseca and 20-year-old Jonathan Salazar managed to escape through a 55-cm hole which they opened up in the ceiling of a latrine in Salinas Jail, San Francisco on Sunday. Both men were waiting to undergo trial by jury on separate murder charges.
According to jail officials, both prisoners identified an area beyond the reach of security cameras.
The US authorities are searching for the two men, who are being described as armed and dangerous, and a $5,000 reward is being offered for information on their whereabouts.
