UPDATE (1) : Murder at Ħal Far – person killed and two others wounded in shooting incident

TVM is informed that late on Saturday evening a foreign national was found shot and murdered in fields in the area of Ħal Far.

Sources told TVM that an unknown person fired on a group of persons, killing one person while two others were wounded by the shooting and are being treated in hospital.

In  a statement, the Police confirmed the murder case, saying that at around 11.00pm the Police were informed by a man that shots were fired in Triq tal-Ġebel, in Birżebbuġa and that the same man was hit. Police officers immediately were on site where they confirmed the report.

The Police noticed that an unidentified man, possibly a foreigner, was wounded and called for an ambulance which arrived on site. While police officers were still on site, they received information that there were more wounded persons in the same road.

Police officers found another man with wounds, who was also taken to Mater Dei hospital for treatment. The latter, who is aged 45, is a Georgia national.

Later on, during their investigations, another man was found in the same road, also of foreign nationality who has not yet been identified, and who was lying on the ground with a lot of blood. He was certified dead on the spot.

Duty Magistrate Rachel Montebello was informed about the case and appointed various experts.

The Police are continuing with their investigations to establish the facts behind the case, which is being treated as a homicide.
