UPDATE: Garage and apartment extensively damaged in Mosta garage fire – trucks and van destroyed

Early today a garage containing a number of commercial vehicles parked inside was engulfed by fire. The accident occurred in Carmelo Dimech Street, in Mosta, at around 4.00 am. Nine firemen and two officers from the Civil Protection Department carried out a two and a half hour intensive operation to control the fire. tvm.com.mt is informed that persons residing at apartments above the garage, and also nearby residents, were evacuated however no one was injured. The garage and an apartment above sustained extensive damages, while three trucks and a van inside the garage were completely destroyed. Duty Magistrate Audrey Demicoli appointed an inquiry with a number of experts to assist in the case. Police investigation is ongoing.
