UPDATED: Man, 44, killed after being stabbed in his chest and neck by a woman in Mellieha

A Philippine man, aged 44, who lives in Mellieha, was found dead after he was allegedly stabbed with a knife in his chest and neck.

The Police said that at around 12.45 am, a woman asked for their help and said she was waiting for them at Triq il-Kbira,  Mellieħa. The Qawra district Police arrived at the location and she alleged she had had an argument with a man, and she also had some injuries, but she did not indicate where the argument had taken place. She was therefore given treatment and then taken to the Police HQ for further investigation.

At around 4 am, the woman told the Police that the argument had taken place at a residence in Triq il-Fortizza, Mellieha and that a knife had been used. They went immediately to the scene where they found a man lying face down in the kitchen, covered by a sheet.

Paramedics from Mater Dei were called immediately to the scene and certified that the man had died on the spot.

From investigations, it resulted that the victim had been stabbed in his chest and neck. The Police also found two knives that were allegedly used in the murder.

The Police arrested the woman, 44, who is also of Philippine nationality, who is suspected to have carried out the homicide.


The Homicide Squad within the Major Crimes Unit was informed of the case, while the Duty Magistrate Rachel Montebello appointed any inquiry.
