UPDATED: Man dies after falling two storeys in Hamrun

A 65-year-old Maltese man from Zebbug, died this morning after he fell down a height of two storeys into the shaft of a commercial complex in Hamrun.

The fatal accident happened at around 8am. The man was on a cleaning job at Daniel’s Shopping Complex where works are currently underway.

It appears that the man was carrying some items, and while he was walking backwards he tripped and fell into the shaft of the complex’s carpark. An ambulance was called to the scene but he was certified to have died on the spot.

A Magisterial inquiry has been opened by Magistrate Doreen Clarke about the accident.
