UPDATED: Parliament adjourned until January

Parliament has been adjourned until Monday 20 January at 9am with the agenda to be communicated at a later date.

This morning during the final sitting before the Christmas holidays, Parliament approved the financial estimates of the Budget with a series of votes in which the amendments proposed by the Opposition were included.

Once again, members of the Nationalist Party were not present in the house of Representatives following the announcement at the beginning of the week by the Leader of the Opposition, Adrian Delia, that they would not attend as long as Joseph Muscat continues to occupy the post of Prime Minister.

Parliament will reconvene after the election of the new Labour Party leader is held and a new leader is chosen by 12 January, when the PM is expected to resign so that the new leader will take the oath of office as the new Prime Minister.
