UPDATED (2): Three gold medals and two silver for Malta at Special Olympics
Malta has won three gold medals and two silver medals so far at the Special Olympics.
Swimmer Maria Pia Saliba has won a gold medal for Malta at the Special Olympics being held in Abu Dhabi. She participated in the 25m butterfly race.
Along with Maria Pia, athlete Ann Ebejer also won a gold medal while competing in the 200 metres.
Malta won another gold medal in the Unified Bowling competition. The team is made up of Peter Mallia, Philip Gruppetta , Amanda Cini and Jessica Farrugia.
Malta also won two silver medals in table tennis thanks to Warren Schembri and Doreen Vella.
The Special Olympic games were officially opened this week in Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates. This is the largest sporting platform for athletes with disabilities. In all, there are 28 athletes representing Malta, all of whom are full of enthusiasm and display a lot of courage.
The Chairperson of the Marigold Foundation and Special Olympics Malta’s President, Michelle Muscat was also present during the swimming competition.
