US: Agreement in principle reached on border security

In the US, the Republicans and Democrats have reached an agreement in principle about border security and the measures which will be implemented to prevent crime including the trafficking of people and drugs. Reports are saying that the agreement was reached behind closed doors in Washinton without any details being revealed.

This development took place following months in which talks on the detention of non-documented immigrants and the financing of the wall which Trump wants to build on the Mexican border, were stalled. Late last night, Trump did not say whether he supported this agreement but emphasised that the wall will still be built. In El Paso, Texas, Trump said that he had had no time to study the agreement, but added that he will never sign a law to permit the release of violent criminals.
