US nurse guilty or killing patients by injecting them with air

A nurse from Texas has been found guilty of murdering four patients by injecting them with air and is now facing the possibility of capital punishment.

37-year-old William David (photo) has been found guilty at the end of a trial by jury of committing these homicides between June 2017 and January 2018 at the Christus Mother Frances Hospital.

The patients, ranging in age from 47 to 74, died as a result of brain damage after David injected air into their veins.

The four patients had appeared to be recovering after their operations and the doctors could not understand how their health suddenly started to deteriorate.

It was only when they viewed CT Scans that they realised there was air in the patients’ brains and suspected what could have happened.

The jurors who found David guilty were shown CCTV camera footage which showed David entering the patient’s room, with the alarm sounding three minutes later to indicate a very rapid heartbeat.

David’s lawyer alleged that her client had been blamed so that the hospital could conceal its shortcomings.

The prosecutors are insisting on capital punishment because David enjoyed killing his victims.
