At least 25 people including a police officer, were killed in a shooting in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The shooting took place during a police operation in a poverty-stricken village in Jacarezinho.
The Police launched this operation after reports were received of drug traffickers who are urging children to join their criminal gangs.
During the shooting, two people were killed who were passengers on the metro.
The Police confirmed that Inspector Andre Leonardo de Mello Frias was killed during the operation. In a statement published on Facebook, the Police said that Andre was an honour to the profession he loved so much and that his absence will be keenly felt.
The Police Commissioner Ronaldo Oliveira told the news agency, Reuters that in yesterday’s raid there were the greatest number of people to ever be killed during the Police operation in Rio.
