VIDEO: Firemen have spent many long hours trying to put out dangerous fire at Marsa scrapyard
Tens of firemen have spent the last ten hours fighting the fires which enveloped the Marsa scrapyard.
Firemen from various civil protection stations were called in to put out the fire which broke out at around 11.30pm. They immediately realised that it was a dangerous situation and in fact even more firefighters had to be called in to assist.
On their arrival they found the scrapyard in a ball of flames with thick smoke which not only covered the area of Marsa but even the surrounding areas. Firemen began fighting the flames by using equipment which was bought specifically over recent years by the Department of Civil Protection for situations such as these.
Despite their efforts, the situation in Marsa is not yet under control with many firemen now exhausted from working for many hours non-stop.
