WATCH: Captain of MV Lifeline walks to Court followed by coffin

The Captain of MV Lifeline, Claus Peter Reisch, this morning was seen walking down Republic Street, followed by people carrying a coffin on which there was the EU flag.

Resich was walking to Court to apper in the case where he is being accused of sailing a ship in Maltese territorial waters without it being registered as a small vessel, and of using the ship in Maltese waters without the required license by the Transport Authority.

The ‘corteo’ behind Reisch appears to be intended to convey a message by the NGO which operates MV Lifeline, which is insisting with authorities that it is endangering the lives of immigrants with its decision to seize the rescue ship.
