WATCH: Car and caravan catch fire at Addolorata Hill

A caravan being towed by a car caught fire and was completely destroyed at Addolarata hill just before the entrance to the cemetery.

The incident happened at around 10.20am as the car was was being driven in the direction of Marsa, when the driver realized from his rearview mirror that the caravan was on fire. The driver quickly got out of the car and tried to untie the caravan from the car. However the thick flames spread to the car and as a result both vehicles were completely destroyed.

The fire was brought under control by firemen who arrived on two fire engines. No one was injured in the incident but for some time both sides of this main road had to be closed to traffic. The lane going towards Santa Lucia was later opened while the one going towards Marsa remained closed until investigations are completed and the remains of the vehicles are removed.

The Police are investigating the case.
