WATCH: Catalans overjoyed by birth of rare wildcat

After an absence of 100 years, a lynx cub was born in the Catalan mountains – a feline species which had almost become completely extinct in this area.

The Eurasion cub was born in May at the MonNatura Pirineus natural reserve, which recently uploaded a video of the cub, where it is seen playing with its mother.

The reserve is working on a programme to breed species which are becoming extinct and place them back in the wild. This includes such species as deer, vultures and wolves.
