Shlomi Katzin was diving in Haifa, Israel, when he spotted a sword covered with coll in the seabed.
He brought the sword to the sea surface and immediately informed authorities who found that the sword was 900 years old.
Tests on the one-metre sword showed that it was used by the knights during the anti-Moslem Crusades.
Kobi Sharvit, head of Israel’s maritime archaeological section, remarked that the knight who used the sword was a strong individual when one considers the Knights’ heavy medieval clothing of the era.
The sword will be cleaned and analyzed in more details before being exhibited for the public.
