WATCH: Elephant goes on rampage during Sri Lanka parade, injuring various persons

In Sri Lanka, an entertaining parade turned into a chaos and terrifying scene when a participating elephant ran amok into the crowd.

At least 17 persons, including children, were injured when they were hit and trampled upon by the elephant who went on a rampage.

It is not clear why the elephant strayed, however shortly before the incident a group of persons were seen running behind the animal as if they were pushing the elephant.
