WATCH: European Commission thanks Charmaine Gauci for her decision

The European Commission has thanked the Supt of Public Health in Malta, Charmaine Gauci, after she joined a global Coronavirus response team.

The team was set up by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, so that Europe can respond to the pandemic with a coordinated policy and no one is left behind.

As part of this response, two days ago the Commission allocated €50 million in humanitarian aid.

On social media, the Commission expressed its gravitate for Prof Gauci’s who on her part explained that there are countries which have controlled the Covid-19 situation while others are still in the process of doing so.

It said, however, that there is a need for investment and collaboration, to develop new diagnostic measures as well as treatment.

It added that we can come out of this situation when a vaccine is developed which works and is given to the whole population.
