Watch: High speed car doing 120km/h crashes into vehicle in Gozo in what could have been a fatal incident
A 71-year-old man is lucky to be alive after he was involved in a traffic accident that took place in Triq Marsalforn Gozo at the beginning of the month.
A survey carried out by tvm.com.mt shows that the incident that took place on October 8 at around 5.30 p.m. when a vehicle driven at high speed by a foreigner rammed into the rear end of the vehicle driven by the 71 year old man. Half of the vehicle ended up in the middle of the road while the other half was left hanging on a tree inside the valley.
A video sent to this site shows the dynamics of the incident – the car of the foreign driver is seeing gaining speed and ramming into the car driven by the elderly Gozitan who was going about his day.
People who spoke to this site said that this accident could have had much more serious consequences than and described the foreign man’s driving as dangerous and negligent. The video shows the foreign driver picking up speed and driving at 120 kilometres per hour, when the maximum speed on the road is 60 kilometres per hour.
They called for immediate action against the driver, whose actions could have caused far more serious consequences.
The video shows a number of police officers on the scene who were seen investigating the case.
