WATCH: Hit-and-run incident – did you witness anything?

The Police are asking for the public’s assistance to establish exactly what happened in a case involving a man, possibly a foreign national, who was found lying on the ground with serious injuries in Imdina Road, Ħaż-Żebbuġ at about 8.30 this morning.

The Police stated that at this stage they are treating this case as a hit-and-run, in which a man was allegedly hit by a vehicle whose driver did not stop. The victim’s identity is as yet not known.

The Police said that when they arrived at the scene, the man was being assisted by some persons who were in the vicinity. An ambulance was summoned and transferred the man to Mater Dei Hospital, where he was certified to be suffering from critical injuries.

An inquiry into the incident is being conducted by Magistrate Caroline Farrugia Frendo. Anyone with any information which can help with investigations is urged to inform the Police, even anonymously, on phone numbers 119 or 2122 4001.
