Watch: How much does a human brain weigh?

There are people who are a geniuses, others who have no ‘brains’, however the human brain is an essential part of how we think and act. Everyone’s brain weighs practically the same and is divided in many pieces.

During ‘TVAM’, psychiatrist Dr Mark Xuereb said that an adult’s brain approximately weighs around 1.3 kg.

Asked how the brain is divided, Dr Xuereb said that there are a number of different sections, which he identified through a brain replica, as it appears in the footage hereunder.

Dr Xuereb said that:

blue on the right determines the personality of a person.

The green part is related to our feelings.

Brown is linked to the movement, a section which controls the whole body.

The orange part is related to our anxieties and perceptions.

The inner part, known as limbic system, relates to the emotions and the memory. Dr Xuereb said that we have 100 billion neurons in the memory.
