WATCH: “I was living in just one room..I managed to look at myself in the mirror after many months”
Christopher Spiteri, 33, has begun his journey to lose weight after suffering in silence for many years. He was so unhappy with being overweight that he stopped going out.
Christopher, who is known as ‘Il-Kaboċċ’, spoke openly about the challenges he has had to face because of his obesity. In an interview with ‘Insights’ he said that he lost around 50 kilos about a year and four months ago, after he had reached the weight of 165 kilos.
Since the pandemic reached our shores, Christopher has been posting on social media. He stole the hearts of many and keeps his mother Agnes company. He calls her ‘his little old lady’ and loves teasing her.
Despite the fact that he loves to joke around, Christopher says that he suffers from a lot of insecurities because of his weight. He said that he used to hate going out and in summer he used to avoid going to crowded beaches because he felt like he wanted the earth to swallow him up in embarrassment.
He began a diet and entered into an exercise routine. He explained that he uses time management and gets everything done. Visibly emotional, Christopher said that he recently managed to take his shirt off and look in the mirror for the first time in months.
Christopher added that the obesity problem in our country should be addressed from a young age. He pointed out that grandparents should also make an effort to help their grandchildren by cooking healthy food from a tender age.
‘Insights’ can be seen every Tuesday at 6.30pm on TVMNEWS+.
