‘L-Għarusa’ is a new drama which will be broadcast on the new TVM schedule from next October. The new drama is expected to touch many hearts due to its unusual love story.
The story evolves during the 30s and involves the tragic love story of Bettina Gauci Fontana, an aristocratic girl who was murdered on the same day of her wedding. The past events of the story re-emerge in 2018 after Alan and his father, who run a major museum, acquire the wedding dress of Bettina, with which the macabre legend is connected.
Liz, a student who works in the museum with the father and his son, is attracted to this particular wedding dress and is encouraged to inquire more on the bride who was dressed in the gown. At the same time, we follow investigations by Inspector Fenech Lauri who is determined and convinced he will catch the person behind the murder.
Directors and producers, Steven Dalli and Justin Farrugia, said that in this TVM drama, they tried to improve what was done in Strada Stretta series with better quality. The audience will experience different filming styles, during which camera shots will provide greater motion and are nearer to the film style. They added that a visual graphic will be introduced to provide a better picture of the epic.
The drama author, Audrey Brincat Dalli, stated that the 30s epic has a particular glamor because after World War One, there was a change in mentality, fashion and culture in general. This was a different period that the whole drama team had to explore, however at the same time the team worked to deliver this production and its authenticity.
Actors in the drama include well-known personalities, including Cassandra Spiteri, Davide Tucci, Rebecca Dimech, Jo Christine Scicluna, Henry Zammit Cordina, Ludwig Farrugia, Daniel Azzopardi, JP Xuereb, Paula Mintoff, Daniel Attard Portughes, Mark Mifsud, Kim Dalli, Naomi Knight u Mikhail Basmadjian.
This is a taste of what ‘L-Għarusa’ drama will offer.
