WATCH: Man with crutches distracts shop employee while his friends steal objects

Three persons who on Wednesday afternoon entered a shop in Ħamrun appeared to be accomplices in the theft of various objects.

The case happened just before 1.30pm when a man and a woman entered the shop, and were followed shortly afterwards by another man walking with crutches.

The couple appeared moving together around the shop, while the woman is seen in a video footage placing objects in a basket. At a moment, the other man is also seen grabbing a box from the shelf and putting it in his trousers.

While the two were carrying out the theft, the man with crutches called the salesgirl on the other side of the shelves, giving the impression of wanting some products.

Following this episode, the couple and the other man walked together in the shop, with the couple moving out and the man with the crutches promptly following them outside the shop.

It was at this point that the shop’s employees realized what happened and ran after the man, however it was too late.

TVM is informed that the three persons were already noticed stealing from other shops. A person close to the shop’s owner told TVM that the video was shown to the owners of nearby shops to warn them about these persons.

TVM is also handing over the original footage to Police.
