Two blocks which will be hosting ICT students at MCAST in Paola were approved today by the Planning Authority. This building is spread over 3,420 square metres and will be taking its place next to the Resource Centre where the college is built.
The basement of the ICT institute will be housing the archives, part of the IICT, and the Department of Information for Data Management. The latter will host the IT technicians and the User Support Area, the office of the IT Manager, the College Management Information System (CMIS) Support Area, CMIS Manager Office, and training rooms.
The top floors will house the 53 IT laboratories and classes, offices, the boardroom, meeting rooms, staff rooms and a plant room.
The design of the new building complements the design of the Resource Centre and main square. At the back of the building there will also be a garden to give light and oxygen to the lower storeys while it provides a quiet place for students to study.
The project is being carried out using European ERDF funds and is part of the MCAST masterplan.
