Watch: Olympics rower repairs canoe with condom…wins race

Australian athlete Jessica Fox won the K1 canoe race at the Tokyo Olympics after she repaired the boat with a condom.

27-year old Fox, who had won the bronze medal at the 2012 London and 2016 Rio Olympics, had realised that her canoe had a hole in it only a few minutes away from the last race in the respective category.

The rower immediately repaired the hole with a mix of carbon normally used in this discipline, together with a preservative as this video footage shows, which the rower herself uploaded on her TikTok profile.

Although many persons mocked Fox for her creative gesture, she managed to continue the race and even won the gold medal.

The athlete’s preservative is permitted by the Olympics organisers in the kit of all athletes participating in Tokyo as part of the AIDS prevention campaign.
