WATCH: Opening ceremony of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2019

This year’s opening ceremony of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest will be held at the Silesian Theatre in Katowice. This theatre is dedicated to Stanislaw Wypianski and was built as a German Theatre between 1905 and 1907 by architect Carl Moritz.

During the opening ceremony, participants will be selected by a draw to determine the position that Malta will sing on Sunday, 24th November. For the first time, the contest includes a Gift Ceremony in which every country will present a gift that represents the participating country. At the contest’s conclusion, all participants will share these gifts as a sense of friendship.
