WATCH: Plane breaks in two in India – at least 18 died

At least 18 persons died on Saturday after an Air India Express airplane crashed at an airport with 190 passengers on board in Kerala state in India.

The 737 passenger plane which was about to land at Calicut airport following a flight from Dubai, lost control while landing on the runway during heavy rain and broke in two parts.

The flight was a repatriation one which was transporting a number of Indians back to their country after they were stranded in other countries due to the pandemic.

Following a rescue operation, scores of wounded persons were admitted in hospital, fifteen of whom had serious injuries. The plane’s two pilots are among the dead.
