The Prime Minister’s wife Lydia Abela has visited a shelter in Birżebbuga which houses abandoned animals, as part of her campaign in favour of animal rights in Malta.
In a message after touring the facilities, Dr Abela stated that she had already started discussions with Minister Anton Refalo to find out how she can be of assistance and outlined her ideas for this sector in the coming years.
Dr Abela praised the continuous work of volunteers at this sanctuary and urged them to call on her and on the authorities for assistance whenever difficulties are encountered.
Dr Abela appealed to the public to continue donating both money, food and other items to the sanctuary and urged people to adopt a dog when they are certain they can give it the love and attention it deserves.
Dr Abela offered a donation to the sanctuary on behalf of the Malta Together organisation, and AAA representatives reciprocated with a gift to young Giorgia Mae.
