WATCH: Strong wind covers road at Għadira with sand – cars forced to stop

It seems that the weather does not want to improve and despite today being the first day of spring, the Maltese islands are expected to be hit by strong winds and bad weather until the weekend.

A video posted on social media shows how, overnight, the strong easterly wind covered the road at Ghadira with sand, forcing some cars to stop this morning because they could not drive over it.

The Met Office is forecasting that the wind may reach gale force at some points during the day.

While the sand is being removed from the roads, drivers are still being advised to drive carefully.
