WATCH: Supporters arrested after mocking Sala’s death during football match

Two Southampton supporters were arrested after they mocked the death of player Emiliano Sala who died tragically a few weeks ago when the plane he was travelling on crashed.

The men were seen making gestures of a plane crashing during the match between Southampton and Cardiff – the latter being the team which Sala had just been signed to before his death.

The men were arrested when a video of them mocking Sala’s death and the Cardiff team was circulated on social media.

The Southampton club condemned the action of these two fans and said that it would be taking action over this case.  It said that their actions were shameful and were not acceptable during this sensitive time.

Before the match began, tribute was paid to Sala’s memory with a one minute silence. Cardiff won the match 2-1.
