Rabat is one of a number of localities in Malta and Gozo where the statue of the Risen Christ was taken out in procession this morning.
This particular statue is the one with the biggest number of figures. Christ is seen with an open right hand, and carrying a palm frond in the left hand.
An angel is positioned on the right side of the statue, and a Roman soldier who had been guarding the tomb is on the left side. Another surprised soldier is positioned on the front.
This statue is the work in papier mache by Gozitan artist Agostino Camilleri, and goes back to 1916.
