In Australia, a Koala bear was rescued from the fires that are ravaging various areas in New South Wales.

The bear was spotted by a woman who happened to be passing near a forest which was in flames near Port Macquarie. The Koala was crossing a road and had burns on his body.

On seeing the bear, the woman immediately took off her jersey and picked up the Koala in it. Other persons provided her with water to freshen up the bear who was groaning.

The Koala was handed to firefighters who took it to veterinaries for treatment.

Meanwhile, the Port Macquarie Koala Hospital has started a donations campaign to build more water stations in areas hit by the fires so that bears can find water to drink. Hundreds of thousands of dollars have so far been raised.
